community and you

6 Communities that I belong to are :
1. A community of Dancers
2. A community of Yonkers
3. A community of Brooklyn
4. A community of Shoppers
5. A community of MCNY
6. A community of Hair Stylists

Two communities that mean the most to me :
A community of Yonkers ..
Yonkers is where my mom currently lives. I moved there from 231st in Broadway my freshmen year in High School. A year later she breaks this news on me “ Sweetheart, I don’t know if you know yet but your mothers pregnant “ now how about that? I will tell you that’s when things got tough, not saying my brother was a mistake or anything. He’s really a miracle, he brings everyone closer together. I have so many memories, that I will never forget. He keeps me sane, he’s so special I have him tattooed on my finger on my right hand because he’s my right hand :-) how cute!

A community of Shoppers ..
A community of Shoppers “The Galleria Mall” in White Plains, love it! It was for one the biggest mall in my area and they had all of the stores I enjoy shopping at the most. My mom and I always shopped here, the employees are attentive to their customers needs. It’s a well put together and tidy scenery. Shopping for the most part is a reward to me that I love the most it gives me an adrenaline rush that never quits. The worst part is, if I’m not at the mall for myself I hate to be there. My mom usually gets annoyed when I go through that phase but It’s painful to my eyes and to my legs (F.Y.I. I hate to walk anywhere)

Most important community .. Yonkers
I play a primary role of a daughter and a sister. When it comes to being around this particular community it gives me love, strength and hope. Knowledge also because they say you can learn a thing or two from your elders or well in my parents case adults who have undergone drastic measures.
The most important things that I get out of this community are love, joy, strength and courage. Having the desire and need to belong to a family. The bond that you share is breathless and eternal.

my fairytale

Once upon a time there lived a girl in a pink castle. She wore long wavy black hair and makeup like a Barbie. She was so deserving of great praise for her intelligence and decency. Her charisma was just the light of the town. She had everything she could ever think of, from rags to riches. Everyone expected so much from her, they thought of her as a perfect girl who just loves people. Little did they know she hated to be around others especially the ones who always had something to talk about. She was never the outgoing one but only if she wanted to. Outside of her house she had a beautiful garden in which she had enjoyed growing. She had a biegal and a cat that she adored very much. Whenever things got too overwhelming she depended on them to make her feel better. Oh yes of course she had her mom to fall back on for support. Or so the people outside of her family thought so. She hated speaking to her mom because she always had anxiety attacks, even when she really wasn’t having one but she just made it seem that way. Her mother was a bogey lady, young and beautiful. Her mom let all of that nonsense get to her head, it was so hard for the princess to cope with. She and her mother were just alike, her mom was just a bit meaner and sassier then she was. The princess was a strange girl, quiet and beautiful she was. She had a brother names Isaiah who was just the epitome of handsome. He was a spoiled little thing with a brain of excellence. He knew just what to do to win people over. His smile was a radiance of kindness. While he was getting pampered the princess was enjoying her beautiful garden. She had everything but love from a kind gentleman who would do anything for her, with no questions asked. One afternoon on the other side of town the princess decides to go shopping because next to her handsome brother, her dog and cat and her oh so beautiful flowers, the princess loved so much to shop. She shopped whenever and however she wanted to. No matter what kind of money she had on her that day you name it and she spent it. Even if it was her last penny or dime she was getting what she wanted, but she was very picky about it. She walked and walked down the streets of beauty, until she spotted a very nice gentleman whom she had never seen before. He was different from them all, he had something no other man had ever had. He was beautiful, much beautiful then she was, so she thought! She was a very shy gal so she kept moving along and just sighed. She kept shopping though, she stepped into this one store and just briefly looked around because at that point she a little sad because she felt like she had nothing to live for without that prince she has been always wanting ever since young. She grabbed a few items to try on and stepped into the fitting room. She had been in the fitting room for 5 minutes just trying on items but none of them made her feel good about herself. She steps out of the fitting room and there goes prince charming, the man of her dreams standing right infront of her dressing room all she could do was gaze into his eyes without saying a word. He approached her and said “You’re so beautiful, inside and out”. The princess was speechless but knew she had to speak or she’ll lose him again. Ever since then they have been in love with each other. It was love at first sight.

" Strengths and Weaknesses "

Where I am today is totally different from where I was once before. If I was asked this a year ago I probably would have answered in hell, but today I am in heaven.

I struggled with a lot of emotions in my past. So much it was depressing. I hated living with myself, it felt like I was dating me. I was breathless, if I took a breath it didn't feel real to me. The reason I am where I am today is because I finally owned up to my inner-self and faced life and its struggles. For so long I have been under my mom's wings that when it was time to face the real world and have responsibilities. I failed, I fell hard on my face. I am much happier now that I am controlling my own life.

A way in which I can contribute more would be to inspire other females who are dealing with identity crisis. To become a role model would be my other motivation in this lifetime.

" Strengths and Weaknesses "

Everyone has their strengths and their weaknesses, their high points and their low points. That question is usually heard at any job interview, or you might mention it as you are creating your resume. It’s a classic question that gives you a brief summary about yourself, it’s so typically used by people in this century. Although limiting in its synopsis of self, it is yet a question worth exploring.

I have concluded that one of my strengths would be my communication skills, which is by far my biggest strength. Insanely to believe but I work very well with all kinds of people and I keep in mind that everyone has their own perspectives. Another strength is having the ability to cope with failures and” trying” to learn from every mistake made. I am a highly energetic person with compassion but if pissed off I may come off aggressive. Which I will shortly explain when talking about any weaknesses I may have. I am also a good worker who enjoys putting in the effort to tend to others needs. Last on my list of strengths would be the satisfactory of learning new things, they say “A mind is a terrible thing to waste “, so why begin to now?

A huge weakness I have in this entireee world is the art of procrastination! What ! I am a big time procrastinator. Your probably reading this like .. “uh, how is this funny to you” but in real life when you do it so often making it a habit, you have no choice but to laugh it off. Because it to me, is a devastating disease I was once diagnosed with .. by myself . I am a very moody gal whose hormones rage desperately in certain situations that can’t be dealt with at times. I sometimes DO NOT have proper etiquette skills, I usually forget to use those when in my own world. I always have to have the last word which comes with bluntness. I am a very opinionated person who won’t hesitate to let someone know how I’m feeling at that very moment.

As I grapple with these two contradictory qualities of myself, I ask you the reader not to box who I am solely based on this grounding. The important thing is to take the negative and turn it into a positive. A way in which I can improve my weaknesses is by outweighing the good and the bad. No one is perfect at what they do, so we train, we begin to learn. If we’re satisfied with our decisions then we put it into a conclusion and gather the necessary information to approach it with a probable cause.

" Progress Assessment "

Well so far I really enjoy this class, the fact that we have an opportunity to express ourselves in anyway we can really puts a smile on my face :) You don't usually get teachers who allow you to do so. After each class I leave with eligible knowledge and facts .. It's really great way in getting to know each of your fellow classmates, it's incredible! Not to mention Professor V is a remarkable teacher who keeps us driven as well as focused. I actually have two assignments that I enjoy very much, which are both Fairy Tales and The Candy Introductions. There is definitely alot going on in the blogosphere nowadays. Seriously, I have never written a blog nor have I really looked at one. I guess you can say that I have been out of the loop for sometime now, because previously entering Self Assessment, I didn't think that other people worldwide were actually interested in this type of communication. I learned that many blogs focus on particular subjects such as web design, fashion, and classroom discussions. My analysis of written blogs are that most people derive their thoughts from classroom activities and personal journals. Generally speaking most blogs today have similar things in common. I mean the art of blogging and the use of social media has rapidly increased over the years, if you think about it. So why go back to the use of paper and pen when you have a much reliable and convient way of communication. I will be honest and say that I am not up to par with my assignments, however I will make sure that my time management skills increase to a higher level for me to accomplish any work pending as of now. I know that as a college student we are held at a certain standard. I will make it my business to begin and end any held back assignments given.

The blogs that I have not yet completed are Strengths and Weaknesses, Fairy Tales and commenting on other's postings.

Of course there's way more to me then those 10 stinky little bullets, Just too much to go on about.

However I thought I'd give you some insight on my career path, hope you enjoy my sense of ability in this next passage.

Why i chose the BA in American Urban Studies at MCNY?
In 2008 I graduated from Cathedral High School located in Manhattan. I was awarded a scholarship to St. John's University so I took it. My first year there wasn't so good :-( so I decided to take off a year and some change to get my mind together. I did not want to start school without having a goal or a path to follow, so I Spent my time thinking and grasping life. This past summer I looked into accelerated schools and programs, because I wanted to make sure that I graduated on time. With the help of MCNY'S advertisments ( chuckle ) I made it my business to look further into it. I knew what major I wanted to study, and now here I am in the American Urban Studies Program. Looking foward to studying law to becoming a Forensics Anthropologist.

What are my career/education goals after I recieve my BA? How will this degree help me?My goal is to become a Forensics Anthropologist so that I can help medical and legal specialists solve cases. Forever since I could remember I watched these television shows that dealt with unsolved mysteries, making it to become a huge desire of mine. After I graduate with my bachelors I will be attending graduate school for further education.

How comfortable am I using the web?
All throughtout high school I used Myspace, I got to college then started using Facebook to stay in connect with everyone I knew. However Faceboook as well as Myspace took up to much of my time. I ate, slept these two websites. Not to mention I was a gossip website fanatic, I looved hearing ridiculous random stories espiecially when that ridiculous random story was about any celebrity I enjoyed seeing ( these stars are really crazy lol ) so it's really exciting knowing facts about them.
